How we use your data

We will always seek to ensure that we use your personal data with your interests and rights paramount as well as in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations. We will only use your personal data to contact you when it is relevant to our legitimate interests or where
we have your consent. Specifically, this will include but is not limited to: group news, eg. campaign updates or requests relating to fundraising consistent with our legitimate interests. Should you wish to opt-out from any of the above communications, please email us or use the unsubscribe link if it is available in our electronic communication.

Who we share your data with

We share name, house number and postcode with HMRC in order to claim Gift Aid.

We might share stories involving members/supporters on social media but only with their explicit consent.

Data is otherwise not shared with any 3rd party without the member’s consent. We do not sell member, supporter or visitor data.

How we keep your data secure

We take all reasonable steps to keep your data safe and secure and to ensure the data is accessed only by those who have a legitimate interest to do so.

Electronic files containing supporter information are kept securely on password protected devices/accounts.

Our electronic database is password protected and accessible only to the limited people who need access to support Group activities.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We will keep personal data for as long as they remain supporters in order to communicate in line with our legitimate interests.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we correct or erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

You have the right to object to us using your personal data to contact you and to opt-out of all communications from the Group. You have the right to withdraw consent if you have given it and later change your mind.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
