Locals talk about the wildlife that is under threat should Marlow Film Studio be built.

HOW DARE THEY DESTROY GREENBELT AND KILL WILDLIFE

At a time when more and more areas of Marlow are being built on, preservation of Greenbelt is vital for wildlife. It is our duty to protect their homes and hunting grounds.

Local group Wild Marlow have made a public statement on the proposed development.

A Wild Marlow spokesperson said

“It provides vital habitats for many protected and priority species, including badgers, bats, owls, skylarks, kestrels, stag beetles and wild orchids. The land would be decimated by this development and the impact on wildlife would be disastrous.”

full statement here https://www.wildmarlow.org.uk/news.php

It is at this time we release our 2nd video ‘Wildlife’, featuring locals who are passionate about this land and why we need to protect it, we call on Marlow to help.

New Year Fun Family Wildlife Trail in the Little Marlow Lakes

Jan 1, 2022 AT 10 AM – Jan 3, 2022 AT 3 PM

What better way to start the New Year than a wonderful family friendly wildlife walk in the Little Marlow Lakes Country Park, right on our doorstep.

There will be a wildlife poster trail for you to follow, spotting the amazing species you can find in the area. With some fascinating facts and quiz questions as you follow the route.

There will be a stand set up outside the church on the Sunday (10-3) for anyone wanting to claim a prize for their quiz.

The walk is around 3 miles and should take around an hour – sturdy footwear and weather appropriate clothing recommended.

Bring your binoculars or cameras and let us know what you find! For further details email contact@savemarlowsgreenbelt.org

Parking available near the Thames Water Treatment Works entrance. Please avoid blocking driveways. There will be a church service on the Sunday morning, so parking may be limited in Church Road.

What justification is there for destroying our Greenbelt

Film Studios are being built all over southern England and now unscrupulous developers are jumping on the bandwagon to try and make a quick buck.

Just a few days ago Buckinghamshire councillors approved a 77 acre expansion to Pinewood studios, a huge studio complex is being built up the road in Reading, Shepperton Studios in Surrey is planning to double their operations and Bray Studios, just a few miles away, is expanding.

Is there really a need for yet another Film Studio in Marlow?

Is it really worth all the traffic problems, the harm to the area’s character and the destruction of our Greenbelt when there will be no benefits to us?

We think not, particularly when even industry insiders are sceptical about the actual demand – “With millions of square feet of production space coming into the market in the next few years, there’s more than enough to meet everyone’s needs.” (Source: VARIETY)

In this short film, Marlow residents talk about how they feel about the Marlow Film Studio in relation to what could well become a ‘glut’ in the filmmaking business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CLttWA0lQ8

Funds needed to help protect our way of life.

We are a group of resident volunteers that is dedicated to preventing the destruction of our local greenbelt. We believe that natural green spaces make an important contribution to our quality of life, protect wildlife and define the character of this area. The greenbelt must be preserved for future generations because once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. We are campaigning against Marlow Studio Project and other possible greenbelt developments whose sole interest is to make money at our expense.

In order to do this, we need resources, consultants and lawyers, please can you help us by donating to the cause.

You can do this via our www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/savemarlowsgreenbelt or see more ways to donate at savemarlowsgreenbelt.org/donate/

Thank you for your support
